Move Forward: Walk in Victory Through the Mindset of Jesus

I want to share something with you today that comes from over 30 years of working closely with people in my community. Through all those years, one truth has stood out more than anything else—it’s not our circumstances that define us; it’s our mentality.

The difference between a victor and a victim is not what they’ve been through—it’s how they move forward after the storm. Everyone faces moments of betrayal, loss, or disappointment. We’ve all been hurt by people who should have loved us, faced situations that broke our confidence, or endured seasons that left us wondering, “Why me?” But what determines whether you thrive or remain stuck is your ability to move forward when life knocks you down.

If anyone had the right to be bitter, it was Jesus. Our Savior—the Wonderful Counselor, the Prince of Peace, the King of kings—came to earth with all power and authority, yet He was mocked, taunted, rejected, and betrayed. People lied about Him. Friends abandoned Him. Still, Jesus never tried to prove Himself or fight back. He didn’t waste time defending His name.

Instead, Jesus rested. He rested in who He was, in His divine purpose, and in the calling that could not be shaken. He moved forward with calm assurance because He knew how the story would end—with victory.

That’s the mindset of a true overcomer.

The only way to stop feeling like a failure and start living as a victor is to let God shape your character through your challenges. You can’t develop endurance without opposition. You can’t grow in faith without resistance. But the beauty of the Kingdom is this: what the enemy meant for harm, God transforms into strength.

Romans 5:3–5 reminds us, “We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.”

That’s why today I want to give you two small, but life-changing words: MOVE FORWARD.

Write them down. Place them where you’ll see them—on your mirror, your car dashboard, your computer screen. Every time you face discouragement, let those words remind you: you are not what happened to you; you are who God says you are. Let go of the need to replay unfair situations in your mind. Let go of the desire to prove yourself right. Let go of the weight that keeps you tied to yesterday’s pain—and move forward.

Each morning, set your heart on the path of victory. Keep your eyes fixed ahead, ignoring the distractions that want to pull you backward. Stay humble, stay teachable, and let God lift you higher in His perfect timing. Remember, His plans are never to harm you, but to prosper you—to give you hope and a fruitful future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Follow the example of Jesus. Don’t seek revenge or vindication. Rest in who you are in Christ, and trust that God will handle what you can’t. He is your defender, your provider, and your vindicator—and He will do a far better job than you ever could.

So, no matter what you’re facing today, take a deep breath, fix your eyes on Jesus, and say it out loud: MOVE FORWARD.

Because when your mind is anchored in His victory, nothing can hold you back from walking into your purpose.
